Does my head look big wearing this?

Does my head look big wearing these? 😅

One of the optional homework challenges in the self-belief group coaching workshops I run is to wear a piece of clothing, jewellery or makeup that you’ve been hesitant wearing.

Because there’s often something in our wardrobes that we’ve been drawn to, bought and then let it hang there either:

💄 Waiting for that “special” occasion or…

💄 Waiting for more confidence or…

💄 Thinking it’s not really us (even though we really like it) or…

💄 Thinking I’m too old to wear that or…

💄 Believing that that colour or style wouldn’t actually suit us or…

💄 Scared that we might stand out too much or…

💄 Worrying what other people might think

Part of my catch phrase of “own your awesome” is embracing who you are as a person – all those unique quirks and imperfections – finding strength in your vulnerabilities and insecurities, finding the space to give yourself permission to be you and recognising you’re the real deal.

If you’re drawn to a piece of clothing or jewellery or makeup colour, I believe that’s a deeper part of your essence coming through.

But too often we let fears, worries and expectations get in the way.

Too often we tie our worth, wellbeing and awesomeness to how we look, how people perceive us and how we think we are expected to be.

I bought these big purple earrings over 10 years ago.

I wore them once and felt they weren’t me – ie too big, too blingy, too purple, what would people think?? – even though there’s just something about them I love.

So they have sat in my jewellery box all that time.

And every time I opened it I see them and I thought “one day when I have more confidence I’ll wear them”.

But life doesn’t work like that. I know that now.

We have the confidence, courage and worth right now to be who we want to be and be the awesomeness that we naturally are inside.

Understanding that is the first step in the journey of you becoming you.

If you’re ready to stop feeling stuck and ready to find the confidence and self-belief to step out in 2024 and make it your year, my New Year, New You group coaching workshop for women starts on January 16th 2024 UK (January 17th New Zealand). Find more information here and to register you interest.

What’s in your wardrobe that you’d like to shake off for the new year?
