We often forget how amazing we actually are as humans, as people, as individuals. We forget about the value we intrinsically have.
Life is busy. There’s all these demands. Everyone seems to just want to take, take, take.
I get it.
It’s too easy sometimes to feel a little bit like yesterday’s leftovers.
We forget to honour and celebrate ourselves and recognise our worth (which is always there even if we feel like a four-day-old sandwich).
So, here’s four ways you can put yourself first and honour your value.
1) Wear nice underwear.
Sure people might not see those sexy panties so you might think what’s the point but it’s a simple way to show yourself that you respect and value you – because who really wants to wear dodgy undies anyway?
2) Carve out time for yourself or give yourself a break.
Because you’re important too and you deserve it. If you’re not going to look after yourself – who will?
Think of it like the airplane oxygen mask – help yourself before helping others.
3) Say no more often.
When we say yes to stuff we don’t really want to say yes to we are by default making other people more important than ourselves.
Yes those other peeps might be important (like a boss or a partner) but you, your energy, wellbeing, time, money, life, dreams are equally important.
Prioritise you.
4) Stop apologising for being you
I’m guilty of this (it’s the people pleaser in me and a constant work in progress) but when we are apologising for being ourselves, for our unique quirks that make us incredible full human beings, we are subconsciously suggesting that we think there is something wrong with ourselves.
And that’s not true because there is nothing wrong with any of us – we are all amazing just as we are.
The truth is that if we don’t recognise and respect our own value and worth, how can we expect others to recognise and respect it.
BONUS TIP – Invest in you
When you invest in yourself and in your growth and in your life, you’re saying hello to your value and that’s when the door opens to new possibilities and you feel better about yourself and life.
Investing might be buying a new wardrobe, ring fencing time for you to do something that fulfills you, spending money on something that will improve an aspect of your life or asking for help.
You have value regardless.
Embrace you.
