Life has a way of life-ing and throwing curveballs.
Circumstance comes along and life doesn’t turn out how we think it should. We end up going through the motions on autopilot, overcome by responsibilities, expectations and logical reasons why things are a good or bad idea.
“I’m too busy,” we say.
Our dreams get forgotten and we forget ourselves in the process, stuck on the hamster wheel of juggling a life that feels like it’s on ice.
And then the doubt and lack of confidence creeps in.
“Who am I to do that?” we say, the seedling of an idea sprouting in our mind. “Who am I to want to change? Who am I to feel joy and have an amazing life?”
From there it can be a quick hop, skip and a jump to focusing on all the negative things that are happening, and why we can’t do things and why other things are impossible.
Through this doom loop process – which is incredibly common – we’ve essentially got a form of amnesia where we’ve forgotten who we are and where we’ve come from and what we’ve achieved. We’ve forgotten all the good stuff.
So, what’s the answer?
We remind ourselves of all that good stuff and bring our awareness back to it. It might seem simple but it’s a first step back onto your path.
Here’s six questions to ask yourself, reflect and journal on…
💟 What have you achieved or succeeded at in your life?
💟 What fears have you faced? What challenges and setbacks have you overcome?
💟 What have you learnt? How have you grown?
💟 What are you proud of? What made you feel alive?
💟 What opportunities have presented themselves to you? What good stuff has happened?
💟 What are the nice things that have been said to you or done to/for you?
This is all about shifting your focus away from the negative and back to the amazingness of you, your resilience and ‘why you can’.
Celebrate your life, your journey, where you’ve come from to where you are now and for everything that’s already in you (you’ve got the proof right there) to take you forward now.
This is the vibe that shakes things up and gets stuff done.
And an extra tip…
Introduce a daily gratitude practice into your life.
Ask yourself…
What are you grateful for? Really feel it – how is your life better because of it?
BONUS tip:
To keep this energy going and help remind yourself of the amazingness of you, keep an achievement or evidence journal next to your bed or computer and write in it every time you achieve something (big and small) or when something awesome happens.
Not only can you go back to it to remind yourself of what you’ve accomplished it will also showcase your strength, capability, resilience and what I call your Awesomeness too.
That’s something to celebrate!
